Newbie - Camel or Hurricane ?

Featured Replies

Hi All,Decided to finally take a deep breath and actually build the simpit I've been dreaming about for so long.Would love to build Vulcan bomber simpit, but recognise this is way beyond my current skill or patience levels. So I need to focus on something which is within budget and which I can actually build. My main requirement is something with which to have fun flying with combat simulator software and preferably on-line against real people. For realism I'd like the cockpit to be a close approximation to the real thing, I'm not bothered about being exact to to within a millimeter.Personal preference and interests have narrowed my choice down to Sopwith Camel or Hawker Hurrican Mk.1.I'm faily certain I could build a Camel simpit, I've even drawn up plans. A Hurricane is a much more abitious build, and requires more investment in servos and dials, but there is a much wider choice of simulation software available. My question is - should I build the Camel ? Is less software a problem ? Are there on-line groups where I can fly with/against real people.Or should I build the Hurricane ? More complicated, more expensive, but I'm guessing more choice in software an no shortage of on-line groups with which to fly Battle of Britain re-enactments.All ideas and comments welcome.Martin

For a realistic Camel simpit, don't forget an aerosol can of WD-40 and a fan, so that you have a continuous fine mist of oil blowing into your face the whole time you're flying.........Richard

If you want it "really real" you have to mix the WD-40 with castor oil.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.comwww.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
