November 24, 200619 yr Hi... Have any of the people using Knitter switches had a problem with hardware failures? I have one switch that no longer reads when turned clockwise, and one that no longer reads when turned A/CW.They're both in high use spots, so they've been turned a LOT in the three years or so since I bought them.Richard
November 24, 200619 yr I got knitters, but haven't used them yet. Compared to the other encoders I got they are plastic and I opened one up. The ingredients for a knitter are plastics, so something might be broken. Maybe a good time to switch to more durable type with an interface that supports gray types ? I believe I'll have to do the same in time. Gray types also have a better feel to them (my perso opinion).
November 24, 200619 yr Author I agree that the knitters have a 'cheaper' feel to them than grey code encoders, but the advantage of course is how much easier they are to interface. Some people may remember that I bought 100 of them - the minimum order that knitter would sell - about three years ago and sold the ones I didn't need at my cost to other people on this board. Now I wish I'd kept a few spares :-(Richard
