Two 24" = One TH2GO setting??

Featured Replies

Hello,As I know, TH2Go deliver 3840 x 1024 resolution wide view by 3 monitors (1280 x1024). If I don't use TH2Go and use two 24" or 27" (1920 x 1200), does it provide the same wide view (even more height)? (3840 x 1200)Take the extreme, is that mean one 30" (2560 x 1600) LCD alone can provide a quite wide view?= 0.66 TH2Go wide view?I am using a 32" LCD TV (1380 x 768) as visual. The size of course is good, but I don't feel the "wide" feeling. Is that because the low resolution problem?thank you!Alkit

Hi Valentin,Thanks for your reply and information. Seems DH2Go is good choice for three 24 - 27" LCD config. As it can expand one of the display output to two, with the display card's other output, three in total. Very good for a wide screen. Your price comment is right. The price for buying the DH2Go would be more of less the same money for a mid-high level display card's price. With the additional display card, there are 4 native displays available. Now I know which way to go now. Thanks a lotAlkit

Me againAgain from experience: The performance drop of your (or my) computer is more significant if your graphic card has to handle 2 outputs. Running my TH2GO on one output alone, even then, the frame rate in FS2004 drops significantly. In my case from 35 to 25 which is "just" acceptable. That's why I did not even think of attaching another screen the 2nd graphic-card-output.If you consider a 3-Monitor setup, then you should go with TH2GO. I doubt you get a good performance with a DH2GO + the 2nd graphic-card output. But finally it's your decision or it has to be tested.I did not check a configuration you'd like to have with my new and much more powerful graphic card XFX NVIDIA 7600GT / 256Mb. I bought it last December.

Then the frames shouldnt drop - apart from the fact that a twice as wide visual also shows twice as much stuff in there, which of course will affect performance.>If you consider a 3-Monitor setup, then you should go with>TH2GO. If you want 3 outputs, use triplehead2go as you can then use the other output for a panel for example. The thing with wide display is that with 3 you can "wrap them around" yourself.

One wide screen:---------------- (") < youwhereas with three screens you can do this:	_________ / / / (")

Which, when you look at the field-of-view, shows quite a bit of a difference in that. Of course the lower picture is a bit exxagerated too, but you get the idea. But the peripheral vision likes the three screen "half hexagon" a lot better. The triplehead2go visual just about stretches with full zoom out to ~130 degrees of field of view - try it with FS by placing your plane on some corner of an apron, nose facing in and check with top-down view the viewing angle on both sides, then see if you can zoom out enough to see items that far to the side. IF it is not enough, then you need wideview and true multi-screen view.//Tuomas

HelloUsing the MATROX Tweaking Software on my TH2GO (Triple Head to go), I can confirm to switch to the follwoing resolutions. I'v tested it.- 3360 x 1050 / 60Hz (only two outputs used!)- 2560 x 1024 / 60Hz (only two outputs used!)This might be useful to know, because with TH2GO you can also run only 2 Screens. Such as 22" or 24" Monitors with 1680 x 1050. Or 19" with 1280x1024.In this case DH2GO makes only sense in other specific cases, such as higher refresh rates. Also good to know is that you don't have to re-connect your monitors when switching between the differen modes. So even switching to 1024x768 is no problem. TH2GO will then use only the center output.Cheers

Thanks Valentin for the information!!This bring out a question. When using the Matrox tweak ware, is that mean I can use 3 x 24" (2 by the TH2GO, then one by the card's own)Alkit

HelloLet's test it with approximate values. I can not run my LCD higher than 1280 x 1024, but the CRT's just take it.Setup:- Dell 360, 2.8GHz, 1Gb RAM, NVIDIA 7600GT- TH2GOSettings:Graphic Card output 1: 3360 x 1050 (2x CRT)Graphic Card output 2: 1280 x 1024 (1x LCD)Result:Yes, it works. So I expect that the follwing settings should work too, but only with DH2GO-digital (see above):Graphic Card output 1 + DH2GO: 3840 x 1200 (2x LCD, e.g. 24")Graphic Card output 2: 1920 x 1200 (1x LCD, e.g. 24")orGraphic Card output 1: 3360 x 1050 (2x LCD, e.g. 22")Graphic Card output 2: 1680 x 1050 (1x LCD, e.g. 22")T.B.C. - to be confirmed.Remark: the resolution 1680x1050 and 3840x1200 is not listed on my computer. So with my TH2GO the possibilities are limited.Cheers

HelloHere is my last hardware test.Setup:- one computer (Dell Precision 360, 2.8GHz, 1Gb RAM, Nvidia 7600GT)- TH2GO / TripleHeadToGo- 4 monitors (to be exact, 2 CRT, 1 Beamer, 1 LCD)- FS2004 + RealityXP InstrumentsSettings:Graphic Card output 1: 3072 x 768 (Beamer + CRT's for outside view)Graphic Card output 2: 1280 x 1024 (LCD for instrument panel)FS2004: weather on (cold front), most sliders to the right, aircraft and scenery shadow off, anti-aliasing off.Result:- Works in general- as expected, the frame rate drops again (down to 20)- still flyable, but 4th window (instrument panel) slows everything down.Hope this gives some ideas for any homecockpit setup.Cheers

So, I think I've now max'ed out my hardware. Just for the curiosity I did the follwing:- combine the 2 graphic card output such that I get on large expanded desktop. Which was 2048x768.- restart the computerNow I was able to choose from even MUCH wider desktop sizes. Starting at:- 5120 x 1024going up to a ridiculous value of:- 7680x768The most funny thing is, it works! This MEGA-Desktop shows on all of my 4 screens. :-) Have a look on the screenshots I took of the settings panel:http://www.tino.net/flightsim/homecockpit/...2GO-Test_02.jpgandhttp://www.tino.net/flightsim/homecockpit/...2GO-Test_03.jpgRemark: I did not try to run FS2004 on these resolutions. (Up to now :-roll )

Sweet :)I bet you run out of zoom range to get a sensible field of view though :)//Tuomas
