March 9, 200719 yr HiI would like to assign different keys for commands such as STBY, also frewuency increase, decrease, for each radio, also for instruments such as the OBS, rather than selecting each radio/instrument first and then using the generic increase/decrease sel.Can it be done in FS2004?Thanks!
March 10, 200719 yr Assigning a seperate key to, for example, Com1 Frequency swap and Com2 Frequency swap is not possible using the default FS2004 controls, but it is possible with the use of FSUIPC. Here is a picture of my radio stack. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168175.jpgThe whole and fractional frequency knobs, and the swap buttons, are connected to a board that simply acts as a keyboard emulator. FSUPIC allows the assignment of any key (or joystick button) to any of the full list of MSFS controls, which is a very long list - much longer than the list available through the FS menus.Richard

Even without FSUIPC you can assign everything you can think of to a keyboardbutton or a key (using keyboardhacking). You have to change the fs9.cfg file for that (look for keyboard section in that file). There are only a few things that can be assigned via the fsmenu, but via editing the fs9.cfg everything is possible. Look for the fs2004control.doc on www.schiratti.com under Dowson for further info and a full list of things you can change. My first experience with cockpitbuilding was with keyboardhecking. It is still on my website - click on "first panel" in the navbar.regardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch/
March 11, 200719 yr thanks rick and norbert...I did find the file when rick pointed me to the fsuipc site and actually figured out that i can change the .cfg file with the extra commands, before seeing norbert's post :)now I have another question....I guess the first number is the ASCII code? what about the second....fopr instance:ADF=65,8
March 11, 200719 yr The first is indeed the ascii code.65,8 = A65,9 = shift Athere are more possibilities for ctrl A and ctr-shift A.download the fs2002control file. (schiratti-dowson)It contains in depth info on how to change the cfg file for the keyboard and joystick section. The later fs2004control file contains only the list of parameters but not the help files.norbert
March 11, 200719 yr ok....can anyone show me their fs9.cfg file to see which commands are really needed to control a Cessna radio stack?Browsing through the list of controls I saw a lot of commands I don't realy need. Here's the sections I need to look more into and prune some commands, as I plan to use a keyboard, no shift keys or anything, number and function keys alreadyr eserved for ATC and switches respectively....NAV1_RADIO_FRACT_DECNAV1_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYNAV1_RADIO_FRACT_INCNAV1_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYNAV1_RADIO_SETNAV1_RADIO_SWAPNAV1_RADIO_WHOLE_DECNAV1_RADIO_WHOLE_INCNAV1_STBY_SETNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_DECNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_INCNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYNAV2_RADIO_SETNAV2_RADIO_SWAPNAV2_RADIO_WHOLE_DECNAV2_RADIO_WHOLE_INCNAV2_STBY_SETNAV_RADIOCOM1_TRANSMIT_SELECTCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_DECCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_INCCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYCOM2_RADIO_SETCOM2_RADIO_SWAPCOM2_RADIO_WHOLE_DECCOM2_RADIO_WHOLE_INCCOM2_STBY_RADIO_SETCOM2_TRANSMIT_SELECTCOM_RADIOCOM_RADIO_FRACT_DECCOM_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYCOM_RADIO_FRACT_INCCOM_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYCOM_RADIO_SETCOM_RADIO_WHOLE_DECCOM_RADIO_WHOLE_INCCOM_RECEIVE_ALL_SETCOM_RECEIVE_ALL_TOGGLECOM_STBY_RADIO_FRACT_DECREASECOM_STBY_RADIO_FRACT_INCREASECOM_STBY_RADIO_SETCOM_STBY_RADIO_SWAPCOM_STBY_RADIO_WHOLE_DECREASECOM_STBY_RADIO_WHOLE_INCREASEAP_AIRSPEED_HOLDAP_AIRSPEED_OFFAP_AIRSPEED_ONAP_AIRSPEED_SETAP_ALT_HOLDAP_ALT_HOLD_OFFAP_ALT_HOLD_ONAP_ALT_VAR_DECAP_ALT_VAR_INCAP_ALT_VAR_SET_ENGLISHAP_ALT_VAR_SET_METRICAP_APR_HOLDAP_APR_HOLD_OFFAP_APR_HOLD_ONAP_ATT_HOLDAP_ATT_HOLD_OFFAP_ATT_HOLD_ONAP_BC_HOLDAP_BC_HOLD_OFFAP_BC_HOLD_ONAP_HDG_HOLDAP_HDG_HOLD_OFFAP_HDG_HOLD_ONAP_LOC_HOLDAP_LOC_HOLD_OFFAP_LOC_HOLD_ONAP_MACH_HOLDAP_MACH_OFFAP_MACH_ONAP_MACH_SETAP_MACH_VAR_DECAP_MACH_VAR_INCAP_MACH_VAR_SETAP_MASTERAP_MASTER_ALTAP_N1_REF_DECAP_N1_REF_INCAP_NAV1_HOLDAP_NAV1_HOLD_OFFAP_NAV1_HOLD_ONAP_NAV_SELECT_SETAP_PANEL_ALTITUDE_HOLDAP_PANEL_ALTITUDE_OFFAP_PANEL_ALTITUDE_ONAP_PANEL_ALTITUDE_SETAP_PANEL_CRUISE_SPEED_TOGGLEAP_PANEL_HEADING_HOLDAP_PANEL_HEADING_OFFAP_PANEL_HEADING_ONAP_PANEL_HEADING_SETAP_PANEL_MACH_HOLDAP_PANEL_MACH_HOLD_TOGGLEAP_PANEL_MACH_OFFAP_PANEL_MACH_ONAP_PANEL_MACH_SETAP_PANEL_MAX_SPEED_TOGGLEAP_PANEL_SPEED_ACQ_TOGGLEAP_PANEL_SPEED_HOLDAP_PANEL_SPEED_HOLD_TOGGLEAP_PANEL_SPEED_OFFAP_PANEL_SPEED_ONAP_PANEL_SPEED_SETAP_PANEL_VS_HOLDAP_PANEL_VS_OFFAP_PANEL_VS_ONAP_PANEL_VS_SETAP_PITCH_REF_INC_DNAP_PITCH_REF_INC_UPAP_PITCH_REF_SELECTAP_SPD_VAR_DECAP_SPD_VAR_INCAP_SPD_VAR_SETAP_VS_HOLDAP_VS_OFFAP_VS_ONAP_VS_SETAP_VS_VAR_DECAP_VS_VAR_INCAP_VS_VAR_SET_ENGLISHAP_VS_VAR_SET_METRICAP_WING_LEVELERAP_WING_LEVELER_OFFAP_WING_LEVELER_ONADFADF1_RADIO_TENTHS_DECADF1_RADIO_TENTHS_INCADF1_WHOLE_DECADF1_WHOLE_INCADF2_100_DECADF2_100_INCADF2_10_DECADF2_10_INCADF2_1_DECADF2_1_INCADF2_COMPLETE_SETADF2_FRACT_DEC_CARRYADF2_FRACT_INC_CARRYADF2_RADIO_TENTHS_DECADF2_RADIO_TENTHS_INCADF2_WHOLE_DECADF2_WHOLE_INCADF_100_DECADF_100_INCADF_10_DECADF_10_INCADF_1_DECADF_1_INCADF_CARD_DECADF_CARD_INCADF_CARD_SETADF_COMPLETE_SETADF_EXTENDED_SETADF_FRACT_DEC_CARRYADF_FRACT_INC_CARRYADF_HIGHRANGE_SETADF_LOWRANGE_SETADF_SETDMEDME1_TOGGLEDME2_TOGGLECOM_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYCOM_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYCOM2_RADIO_WHOLE_DECCOM_STBY_RADIO_WHOLE_DECREASECOM2_RADIO_WHOLE_INCCOM_STBY_RADIO_WHOLE_INCREASECOM_STBY_RADIO_FRACT_DECREASECOM2_RADIO_FRACT_DECCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYCOM_STBY_RADIO_FRACT_INCREASECOM2_RADIO_FRACT_INCCOM2_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYCOM2_RADIO_SETCOM2_STBY_RADIO_SETCOM2_RADIO_SWAPNAV1_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYNAV1_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYNAV1_STBY_SETNAV1_RADIO_SWAPNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_DEC_CARRYNAV2_RADIO_FRACT_INC_CARRYNAV2_STBY_SETNAV2_RADIO_SWAPADF1_RADIO_TENTHS_DECADF1_RADIO_TENTHS_INCXPNDR_1000_DECXPNDR_100_DECXPNDR_10_DECXPNDR_1_DECXPNDR_DEC_CARRYXPNDR_INC_CARRYADF_FRACT_DEC_CARRYADF_FRACT_INC_CARRYCOM1_TRANSMIT_SELECTCOM2_TRANSMIT_SELECTCOM_RECEIVE_ALL_TOGGLECOM_RECEIVE_ALL_SETMARKER_SOUND_TOGGLE
March 11, 200719 yr I made a cessna like panel.see herehttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch/firstpanel.htmlscroll down and click on the link to the fscontrols, there you can see the parameters that I used. With that and the dowson files , you should be able to get what you need and change your .cfg file. Another important tip.Make fist a backup of your fs9.cfg and name it for example fspanel.cfg. Then make a copy fs9.exe and name it fspanel.exe. Make a separate link to that exe file and put it on your desktop. In this way you are able to keep your changes from being overwritten. If you start fspanel.exe it will look for a cfg file of the same name.regardsNorbert
March 12, 200719 yr thanks norbert.I was able to assign my own controls for COM1 on the radio stack, though fs9.cg did do some rewriting on its own to mess me up :)...but I think I will figure it out eventuaally.
