August 19, 200718 yr Hi all,Am attempting to build a simple throttle quadrant using the gameport connection to connect the pots to. However, since i have only usb connections on my pc, can i use the following product and simply connect the wires directly into this.http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=UA22Y&DOY=19m8Any help appreciated.Thanks.
August 19, 200718 yr Yes, but there are better approaches. For example:The Beta Innovations Plasma-Lite and Plasma-MM2 offer higher precision and stability along with more channels. www.betainnovations.com There's the BU0836 joystick controller from Leo Bodnar www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/joystick/You can even use the electronics from a "dual action" gamepad.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.comwww.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
August 20, 200718 yr Thanks Mike.Unfortunately the Plasma's a bit out of the price range for a "simple" throttle quadrant. I also live in the UK by the way so would prefer to buy in the UK to minimise shipping costs. I did try to find an old joystick to use the pots e.t.c from, but couldn't find any cheap that had four axes. Thus the gameport would suffice for my simple TQ. However, I am interested in the gamepad idea. What sort of electronics do they have in them? Thanks. Nice website by the way. I remember taking a look at that a couple of weeks back.Marcus
August 21, 200718 yr Gamepads are optimaized for low cost production. Basically a circuit board, a chip, the switches and pots. Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.comwww.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
August 21, 200718 yr Great. That definately seems a better idea than my previous one. They also seem much cheaper than most joysticks. Thanks. Your help was greatly appreciated Mike.Marcus
