FSBUS Com flash problem-I'm going nuts

Featured Replies

Good morning all.I have just build a FSBUS Com, DO64, and Display boards.I have connected it to my computer and I'm having no luck in programming.I have checked the board and everything seems OK-no shorts etc.(1 question-Does it matter which way the 3pin 4Mhz resonator goes?)When connected to the serial port it calibrates OK and it Probes 'COM1' and not the other, so there is some communication. When trying to do the security bits with pony prog. I always get the same error message:'Device missing or unkown device (-24)'I looked up the pony prog site and it states if you get this message just hit ignore and it will continue (Blind reading and writing I presume)If I do this I get the security bits page after three presses of ignore stating reading security bit and config bits, but the configuration page comes up. I mark all the appropriate boxes and then press write. I press write once, i get writing config bits 0%, I press again I get config bits 0% then Security bits 0%, I press again and it disappears. I read again as above and everything is reset.I tried something else. I tried reading the program in command-read program with the DO64 connected and it read the program. I got 100% and a program with lots of 000. I think that was a blank eprom.I disconnected the 6pin ISP and pressed Command-Read Program and it comes out with lots of hex text, the eprom on the Com board I presume. Are there any ideas? I'm going crazy at the moment. I've put in all this time and effort and I seem to be going no-where.Many Many thanks in advance for any advice provided.Rob Fonhof.Melbourne Australia.

After a lot of work I got fsbus working and running.I remember that I saw 'Device missing or unkown device (-24)' too.I thinks there IS something wrong with your hardware. Check and recheck every cable and component and line on your pcb.I had a few cold solders o my board, and the last error was on my connectors that were pressed on my flatcable. One pin did not make contact with the copper, I found it after measuring every line of the connectors between the flatcables. The solution is almost always in these sort of things. The layout of the boards is OK and they do work. The way you solder the 3 pin resonator is unimportant.Norbert

I thought that too, but I went over the board thoroughly beforehand and everything appeared OK. It also doesn't account for my being able to read the program hex, and the fact that when attempting to verify at stops at the same % every time. Anyway I've just started re-soldering the board and start again.Bedankt.Robert

You were right Norbert. It was a hardware thing. I went over the board twice and found nothing, then thought, I cannot write. I thought about the write connection to the MAX 232, and I didn't think there was a short, but I scored it with a knife and-It Works.Reads and writes perfectly, tested on FSBUS OK, but the same LED 3,11,19 etc on all drivers is not working. No doubt I will find a short there too.By the way, do you know where I can find the display code "dsp_tiny_ca.hex". I haven't been able to find it on Dirk's website. Boy am I happy. Some progress. Now I can get frustrated with some programming.Do you have any Servos working? I was just wondering what the key word it there in the programming? Is it 'ANALOGUE'?Bedankt en Groetjes van Australia.Robert

If you install the fsbuscdk package , you will find a sunfolder with all the hex files.Yes I made one servo board, I think it is analogue indeed. The servo works, but now it stays on the todo list for a while.I will use it for the brake pressure gauge in the future.regardsNorbert
