FSBUS IO Board Problem

Featured Replies

Good Morning all.I have just completed a FSBUS card and I'm having another strange problem. When connecting the card the green LED illuminates with the jumper next to the ATMEL chip set. I used Pony Prog to set the Security settings, and then erased the program. I then wrote the 'dio.hex', which verified OK. I then tried to set the CID but nothing is happening. I tried it using the ISP cable, or the 10pin cable and still nothing. I disconnected everything and then reconnected and re-ran Pony-Prog. Security checked OK, read the FLASH(Program) file and everything checks out. I've checked the wiring and all seems OK, as the ATMEGA16 seems to be reading/writing properly.Any Ideas? Many thanks in advance.PS: This FSBUS is extremely frustrating.Rob.Melbourne Australia.

Good Morning again.Per the previous post, I have done the following:-Rechecked the entire circuit board for shorts or breaks,-Desoldered and Resoldered the entire board,-Rechecked for shorts or breaks,-Placed the jumper next to the green LED for programming,-Attached the ISP cable. Green LED comes on.-Checked Security and bits with Pony Prog. 'Bootrst', 'Sut0' and 'Cksel1' were checked. I removed the check from Bootrst and wrote successfully to the ATMEGA.-Saved the original .hex program that was on the ATMEGA.-Wrote and verified the dio.hex file to the ATMEGA.-Closed PonyProg.-Opened FSBUS.-Setup-FSBUS Setup and went to Set CID.-Set CID to 31 and pressed 'Flash CID' 3x.-Then NOTHING! Red LED not indicating anything. Can anyone spin me in the right direction? Many Many thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.Regards,Rob FonhofMelbourne Australia.

Hello,I always shy away from responding as I am not of the caliber of Les and Norbert who seem to be the disciples of Mr. Anderseck. With that said, I have bought five or six of those 8535s because I was careless in the install and setup. The failed chips would produce similar symptoms to what you described. I

Hello,as much as I now is, that you can set only CID from 1 to 30. CID 31 does not work. best RegardsHelmut

I'm away at the moment, but i'll try another CID next week.Thanks.

AFAIK you can only set the CID with the 6 pin ISP cable, not with the 10 pinscable. Thats what the ISP cable is for. By deafault CID is set to 31. Remember to remove all other cards when setting a CID. On some cards you have to set a jumper to change the CID. Just proceed exactly by the docs.Norbert

I procedeed exactly by the docs, but Fsbus manual tell me to set CID with the 10 pinscable!..But with this routine (10 pinscable), I never be successfull in CID set. It still remain 31!!!! Is the cable wrong?Ciccio

Sorry, I was wrong. A long time ago I made my boards. 6pin is for flashing, 10 pins for setting CID.Did you set the jumper on pin 16 when setting the cid? Only one board must be connected to the com board when setting a cid.In fact when I made my boards I had a lot of trouble too. I found a wrong connection in my 10 pin cable. One of the connectors was not correctly connected to the metal of the flatcable. I only discovered that after using a multimeter on every line of the cable.Good luckNorbert

I have fully checked everything again, and found a new ATMega chip in my electronic box. Hopefully I can try it again on the weekend.Looking forward to the results of the FSWeekend (Especially the release of the stepper driver card. I would like to be there as I also have family scattered around Holland.Hope everyone has a great time and posts lots of pictures and videos.Regards,Rob Fonhof.Melbourne Australia.
