Is the latest HW enough for FS2002?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of upgrading my system in the next month or two. I want FS 2002 to be super smooth in all situations: All settings maxed, 20+ fps at detailed airports like simflyer's with clouds, at night, etc. Are today's most powerful cpus/video cards/ram capable of giving me that? If so, what is the minimum config that would do that? I want to get all of SimFlyer's airport scenery, but I don't want it if I'm going to get 5-15 fps while taxing or on final.Does anyone have the latest hardware and can answer that question?ThanksEd

Ed, You might take a look at this link. It was from a couple of weeks ago and I have seen the 2.80 P4's available at a few places. They were reporting 27fps at all resolutions for FS2002 with just a "Full install".http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/hardware/reviews/p42800/I too am looking to upgrade processors and it looks like the P4 with RDRAM is still the fastest out there for FS2002, which everyone discribes as the most "CPU intensive game on the market" and as you can see from the test results at the above link, FS2002 has the lowest scores of any of the games they tested.Good luck and let me know if you find some more information about faster processors from AMD.Steve ParkKSDFwww.flightbase2000.com
