FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE[/p]Contact: Brad Baker, Events Coordinator, VATSIM Cleveland ARTCC, events@zobartcc.org [/p][img src=http://events.zobartcc.org/lake_effect/lake_effect_ad.gif][/p]LAKE ERIE LAKE EFFECT FLY-IN 2/7/2004 2000-0000 ZULU[/p]CLEVELAND, OHIO, January 23, 2004 --- VATSIM Cleveland TRACON and Cleveland ARTCC are pleased to announce the "Lake Erie Lake Effect" Fly-in, which will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2004 2000-0000 zulu (3-7 PM US EST) on the VATSIM Flight Simulation/ATC network.[/p]Winters on the Great Lakes are prone to heavy snows, due to the "lake effect" where the prevailing westerly winds pick up moisture over the lakes. The city of Cleveland is right in the middle of this "white zone", and gets dumped on every year. Needless to say, their "snow warriors" have airport snow removal down to a science.[/p]For this event, we'll be praying to the weather gods for big lake effect snow storm. If our wishes are granted, you can expect: Low visibility and ceilings, icing, missed approaches, snow removal delays, taxiing to the de-ice pad, and diverting to alternates if you can't make it in (all pilots check the terminal forecasts to see if an alternate is needed, don't they? :-).[/p]For charts, routes and sign-up, go to our web page at: [a href=http://events.zobartcc.org/lake_effect/]http://events.zobartcc.org/lake_effect/[/a] .
