September 10, 200421 yr In the wake of Hurricane Ivan, CAV will be assisting the residents of the Caribbean by providing flights to the stricken areas. These flights will ferry both cargo (food, water, relief supplies) and passengers (doctors, engineers, etc.).These flights to the damaged areas will provide both needed supplies and personnel for the islands but will also provide CAV's pilots an opportunity to provide humanitarian support and fly to areas not normally served by CAV.Currently shuttles are flying between the Cape Air Virtual "hub" on St. Croix to the stricken islands of Granada. As Ivan continues across the Caribbean, CAV will expand operations to include flights to Jamaica from Ponce and San Juan, Puerto Rico.In addition to relief operations in the Caribbean, CAV is assisting the Florida Keys evacuation by continuing its scheduled shuttles as long as it is safe to do so. If the need arises, CAV will also assist in recovery operations in the Florida area after Ivan moves through. CAV would like to expres sympathy for all of those who have been and will be affected by severe weather during this hurricane season.
