22 October 2004Nome, ALsaka:Bering Air Virtual is happy to announce that it has begun operations and is currently recruiting pilots.Bering Air Virtual, based in Nome, Alsaka, flies Cessna 208B, Beechcraft B1900D, Beechcraft King Air, Piper Navajo and CASA 212 aircraft on scheduled passenger service to some 30 plus destinations in the region. Additionally, BAV plans to offer frequent "special" flights, such as flightseeing, charter, cargo, MEDEVAC and international flights to Russia to all of its pilots. Bering Air Virtual will operate in a partnership with Cape Air Virtual (VASX: CAPV), a Hyannis, Massachusetts based VA and Aurora Air Service based in the Fairbanks, Alaska area, both of which specialize in regional operation. The partnership will include a code share agreement between the VAs that would allow full credit to all pilots for any of the flights offered on any of the routes.Cape Air Virtual CEO Bernie Stockwell, who will run BAV operations, stated "The goal here was to provide the pilots with a wider range of flights and aircraft to fly. While CAV offers flights in many different locations, I feel that it is important to continue to offer an even greater variety of options to the pilots. I believe that there is an unfilled niche in the VA system: short-haul, regional type flights. With the increased demands on pilots today, many do not have time or desire to fly long-range "heavy iron" passenger flights. Hopefully we can build a network of partnerships similar to this one to maximize the options for our pilots".Bering Air Virtual has established a point system for promotions which not only rewards for flight hours, it also rewards loyalty and encourages training. This unique system allows for rapid promotion to Captain for new pilots. For transfer pilots, all verifiable hours are accepted, and pilots can enter the VA as Captains. A partnership with Steve's Flight school provides web-based training to all of BAV's pilots free of charge.Bering Air Virtual is currently hiring pilots of all skill levels.
