On Thursday November 25th, 2004 a new international virtual airline will be launched, bringing to VATSIM and IVAO skies a professional VA based on France's flag carrier, Air France. Aviation Francais Virtuel is the culmination of several months of extensive planning by the same experienced volunteers that have put together one of the oldest and most successful North American virtual airlines, Delta Virtual Airlines. Noticing the almost complete absence of Air France aircraft from the online skies of IVAO or VATSIM, the AFV volunteers sought to duplicate the success of the Delta Virtual community while maintaining the special qualities that makes Europe and France so distinct and unique in many ways. AFV has been operating with a core group of founding members for several weeks while they developed the content that a serious and professional virtual airline requires - a complete PDF documentation library; full Air France flight schedule database; and a complete self-extracting fleet library of advanced aircraft models and panels that includes all Air France aircraft from the Constellation and Comet to the Concorde (and everything in between!) Aviation Francais Virtuel seeks to provide maximum flexibility to its pilots to meet the needs of a diverse pilot community. We offer the same demanding promotion scheme as Delta Virtual Airlines, that combines sophisticated aviation examinations and check rides for pilots seeking a demanding promotion scheme that is unique among virtual airlines by not rewarding simple seat time. At the same time, we offer our Second Officer program that allows dedicated pilots to advance through diverse aircraft types through dedication and experience. We encourage online flight using VATSIM, IVAO or FPI - but we and Delta Virtual are unique large virtual airlines by not requiring it.
