January 14, 200620 yr DETROIT--The long awaited launch of Detroit's newest airline took place Saturday morning amidst a very cold Michigan morning. Boeing 737-200A and DHC-8-Q200 aircraft have already begun flying to and from Wayne County's Detroit Metropolitan Airport. "Today is just the beginning," said CEO Mark McCoy, "aircraft bearing the proud insignia of our hard work have already left DTW enroute to many destinations in the Midwest, including Burbank Los Angeles in the west and New York in the East." Three (3) new 737's will be arriving this afternoon on dry lease from two destinations in the California desert. MetroAir Airlines will be operating a total fleet of 9 aircraft by Sunday, while additional DHC-8-Q200's are expected later this month.
