Pan Am VA Pilots vote YES for new Airbus May 30th 2005 Pan Am VA pilots last week participated in a vote concerning the future of the Modern Pan Am VA Fleet. "Pan Am VA has two types of 767 in its fleet" said CEO, Ben Zwebner, "we have the 767-300 and we have our aging 767-200s. There was much disscussion amoung our pilots about adding another Airbus to our primarily Boeing fleet." When asked on how the final decision was made, Mr. Zwebner replied: "Our Fleet Manager, Derek Anderson approached me about adding the A330 a while ago. After disscusion we decided that the New A330s should replace the Boeing 767-200ERs, but in the end of the day, the ones who made the final decision, were the pilots of Pan Am VA thru a public vote." Pan Am VA's fleet consists a wide variaty of aircraft devided into 4 "Sub Fleets". These fleets include the "Historic Fleet" which is made up of the old propliners and flying boats of the 1930's and 40's, the "Classic Fleet" which is made up of the original Pan Am Jets flown by Pan Am between the 1950's untill the bankruptcy of the Real world Pan American Airways and last but not least, the "Modern Fleet" which is based on the "what if" factor. This Sub fleet consists of aircraft that are belived to have been used by the real Pan Am if they were still operating today. "Orders are being placed for a total of 10 new Airbus A330-200s with an option for another 5", Zwebner said. "The 767-200s shall be phased out gradually as each aircraft is delivered, the 767s will then be sold to other interested parties and a few shall be converted into cargo aircraft for a possible future cargo division at Pan Am VA. I would hate to have to send these fine aircraft to Mojave, Nevada." When will we start seeing a new Airbus in Pan Am VA colours? Maybe sooner than you think. "Mr. Anderson and Mr. Dunn of our Aircraft Managment are nothing short of miracle workers. I see them working closely with VAirbus and I expect to see not only the POSKY A330, but the payware aircraft as well, very soon" When asked about the mentality of "If it aint Boeing I aint Going", Mr. Zwebner simply smiled.
