Also launched today was a totally re-designed web site. Using the new Real-Time Operations System, Frontier pilots can now sign up for real-time flights using the company flight board. The flight board displays up-to-the-minute scheduling and booking information and can be used to search for and display all scheduled Frontier departures for the coming week.CEO Jeff Turner discussed the addition to the airline's operations: "What makes our system different from others is that for each departure, our pilots will be assigned an aircraft which is actually at the point of departure; an aircraft with a unique tail number, history and a location which changes with each departure and arrival". The location and status of all Virtual Frontier aircraft can be seen by going to the Virtual Frontier web site. Another new feature of the Virtual Frontier Real-Time Operations System is that each pilot within the airline will at all times have a "virtual location". According to Asst. VP of Operations Jordan Langelier, "A pilot who flies from, for example, Denver to LAX will then 'be' in LAX, until he either flies or dead-heads out of LAX. Visitors to the Virtual Frontier website can see where all our pilots are located, whether they be on the ground, departing or in the air, and see where they have been and where they are planning to go next." Langelier continued, "We've got the real-time schedule, our aircraft are modeled in real-time, and our pilots all have a virtual location, 24-7. Now that's realism, a 'virtual airline' unlike any other." VP of Administration Dane Penington added, "We're not requiring our pilots use the new system. They can in fact continue to fly for Frontier using the current flight lines system whenever they like. But I think our pilots are going to like this new option and I expect it will get a lot of use and well as the improved use of the new website. Not only a new look, but now we have improved functions and security."ABOUT VIRTUAL FRONTIER AIRLINESBased in Denver, Virtual Frontier Airlines was founded in January 2002 by Jeff Turner and Dane Penington. Modeled after the real-world Frontier Airlines, Virtual Frontier Airlines flies the real-world Frontier Airlines schedule as well as charters and historic Frontier routes using Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Beech aircraft. Virtual Frontier serves 34 cities in 20 states.VIRTUAL FRONTIER IS NOW HIRING PILOTS. Go to www.virtualfrontier.org to apply.
