Major Problem with FS2K2

Recommended Posts

Guest firehawk44

I recently upgraded my GF3 card to the new 40.71 drivers. Now I'm having a problem with my aircraft as follows:** Engine sound indicates aircraft is idling on runway but, in spot view, propeller is not spinning (i.e., Cessna C172SP Skyhawk in particular but it occurs in all propeller aircraft).** When I hit the "L" key to turn on the lights, nothing happens (lights do not come on and the switches on the panel do not turn on). Using the mouse to switch on the lights does not work immediately. The switch does go on after about a minute wait.** When I go into VC of any aircraft that has a VC, no panel gauges appear.** The throttle on my MS Force Feedback 2 does not work. Plane remains at idle. All other switches on the joystick work properly. Throttle does not work on jet aircraft either. Just have the idling sound.I receive no error messages during startup of FS2K2 or while running FS2K2. I have 16-20 FPS sitting on the runway at Meigs; 28-30 FPS at O'Hare. Here's what I've done so far:Deleted FS2K2.cfg and restarted FS2K2. No change.Checked Scenery.cfg for possible corruption(s). None found.Checked Gauge directory for missing gauges using FS Panel Studio. No gauges missing.Checked Scenery Library and verified all sceneries are active. Before I go to the extreme of reinstalling FS2K2 and/or going back to my old video card drivers, I thought I'd see if someone knows of a fix to this problem. I have an Intel P4 2.2 GHz system with 1 gig of PC800 RDRAM installed. WinXP w/SP1 installed. Thanks in advance.Jim

>Before I go to the extreme of reinstalling FS2K2 and/or going back to my old video card driversI'm 99% sure it's a video card driver issue. The odds of something in FS2k2 becoming corrupted at the exact same time you install new video card drivers is not very good. Try going back to your previous drivers and see if the problem goes away (I woudn't consider this an extreme thing to do, reinstalling FS2k2 on the other hand is ;-) ). Remember, the 40.71's are still beta. :-)Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 29.42 WHQL Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition SP1*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298

Thanks Ryan for the quick response! After I posted my problem, I did roll back to my 30.82 drivers. FS2K2 works perfectly again. I should have known it was the new beta video card drivers as I believe video cards cause most of the problems in FS2K2. Thanks again for your assistance.Jim
