Airbus Heavy Jets

A310 and A300 are heavies AFAIK (they're in the 767 class).319/20/21 are not.

i agree with j. you would think as the model numbers go up they would be getting heavier aswell. not true at all. A300 is way bigger then the A320's and A319

What are the definition of heavyjets. Is it the weight? And what are the limits?

I will probably need to be corrected, but don't they refer to Heavy aircraft as Heavy because of their Air Wake behind them. And thus the size is the main factor in considering, whether its heavy or not. For example the air wake of a 747 Heavy will flip/break/rip a light cessna.Al

Hi Guys,A "heavy" jet is one that has a MTOW of 250,000 lbs or more. (I might be wrong; it might be 350,000 lbs) except for the Boeing 757. It does not have a MTOW of greater than 250,000 but because of it's extreme wake turbulence, is classified as a "heavy".BTW for the uninitiated, MTOW is Maximum Take Off Weight.A few examples of "Heavies".....A310A330A340B747B757 - Wake Turb.B767DC-10MD-11L-1011Hope that helps!CF-AOA

caution with the 757!it has only "heavy" after its callsign in the U.S. and is upper-medium in wake turbulence category
