Do turbo-props have spoilers on the wing?

Featured Replies

Hello,Do turbo props have spoilers on the wing, just like jets?I ask this because there are no spoilers created on turbo props i download from sites, for example the Saab 340 from the freeware flight group or convair 580. I hope someone can answer this question!Best regards,

Sorta depends on the plane your talking about. Some do and some dont, the EMB-120 brasilla, saab 340 dont. However the Dash 7 and cessna 208 do. I'm not to sure whether the dash 8 does or not. So it just depends on the airframe in question and who makes it. Hope I answered it well enough for ya.

The MU-2 does... The flaps take up the entire wing, so rather than ailerons, it is turned with spoilerons... I don't know whether they are also used to slow the aircraft...-John

Yes the Dash 8 does have spoilers. Both roll and ground.CF-AOA

there are even some piston aircraft with spoilers... lanceairs do i think. lots of warbirds. just depends on the aircraft.mark

Hi !However, even if they do have spoilers, that does not mean you may always extend them manually. In Dash 8-300 for example they just help the ailerons to roll the plane at the low speeds. In other Dash-8s they also deploy on touchdown, but no manual deployment is possible.regardsOleksiy.
