Choppers

Featured Replies

I have some trouble to fly choppers. Even with nice calibrations of my joysticks (CHProducts Yoke and Pedals), all my choppers have the idea to turn left and I'm always obliged to correct that with the right pedal !Anybody has a good idea why ?:-rotor

Hi,That's the physics of torque and antitorque. Because the main rotor is driven by an engine the heli tends to rotate around the axis. That's why there is an tail rotor and why you have to work with your feet. :-)regards,Franz, Austria

and now explain why my chopper flips over on its back and side as soon as I take off.I counter torque with the pedals, but it starts bucking and dropping on its side immediately.

Jeroen,Sounds like you need to turn down the 'General' slider under Realism Settings. This is the only setting that seems to affect FS2002 helicopters. The lower you adjust this setting, the less responsive the constrols will be, which is ideal for a new chopper pilot.

cheers. Will give that a try.Does it also affect response to no control input at all? 'cause they flip over even if I do nothing except increase power slowly until they start to lift. As soon as the skids/wheels leave the ground, I can observe this slow roll taking place :-lol
