November 9, 200223 yr Did my first flight this morning with Mel's B747-400. One thing I noticed during the flight and was wondering if this is normal was the strange position of the elevator. The autopilot was engaged, and the plane trimmed itself out for level flight at FL350. But look closely at how the elevator is positioned. Is this normal?Thanks..
November 9, 200223 yr If you overwrite the A/P position of the pitch trim then it will compensate with elevator. It looks like you may have set the trim (inadvertantly?) full down and the A/P is trying to hold level with full up elevator. I've not seen this when I'm at cruise. . .good luck!-drew-
November 9, 200223 yr Yeap, you're correct C17SimGuy. Did another flight, didn't touch the trim, then engaged the autopilot. All is well...One more question however. I see the landing lights from within the cockpit, but the taxi lights don't show up while in cockpit view. When in spot view, the taxi lights work...? Any ideas..Thanks
November 10, 200223 yr I have seen the same phenomena in my meljet 747 as well. First I could not get it to go into proper position. However, next time when I flew it and didn't touch the trim controls, I noticed that the elevators were again in that weird position, but as soon as the aircraft neared the assigned altitude in autopilot, the elevators were flat (normal) again.
