Autopilots

Featured Replies

Have been experimenting with FS2002 autopilots.I have discovered that when arming APP HLD, it will not capture if glideslop and localizer are already active. It works just fine if I am able to arm prior to.Is this the way it works in the real worl?? Just curious. Thanks,Greg

I have found or noticed this. My aircraft usually grab the localizer if intercepting at a decent angle, meaning one that the aircraft can leave and turn into the localizer easily. As far as the glideslope there are a couple of things. Firstly, be sure you are established on the localizer BEFORE your glideslope bug has come down and "centered". The aircraft will then established itself on the glideslope IF ( this is the second point) you have your aircraft configured for it's final approach and allow it to descend. I have a couple of friends that fly , a 747 and A340, and both of them have said it is fairly easy to fly right through the glideslope if your aircraft is not ready to descend. Hope this helps you out.Harry
