Help Please. MIP Mapping Problem??

Featured Replies

Greetings all,Would like to know if the FS brain-trust housed here could help me with a video problem I've encountered. Here's the setupP-IV 1.8Ghz (Sony Viao)XP Home (service pack 1 installed)512MB RamNvidia TNT Riva 32MB using 40.72 driversDirectX 8.1 installed (all diagnostics pass)Strobes, tire smoke on landing, water splashes, engine exhaust, etc. No longer work. Not sure what has changed so am stumped. Strobes sometimes appear as black boxes, sometimes not at all. Interestingly if spot plane view distance is set to greater than 400' strobes appear but still no other effects. I've tried any number of combinations of setting from the display settings menu in FS from basic to all sliders maxed with no luck. Have also tried all settings on the system control panel video acceleration slider and have tried multiple video driver sets with the exact same result. What to try next? Omega drivers? All input greatly appreciated.

Best bet...Rename FS2002.cfg to FS2002.bakStart FS2002...it will rebuild the .cfg. See if the problem is still there...if not, it was some odd entry in the .cfg file... If it is, that sounds like it'd point to a driver issue, and you can go from there...-John

Thanks for the suggestion..A good one. Will check it out.Jody

Jody:[i'm trying this from memory from work]It also sounds like one of your display settings in unchecked. Under Options->Display check the Hardware Tab. On there is the Filters section. If the filters are turned off all text and lights turn to black squares. Check either "bi-linear" or "tri-linear" filtering and see if that helps. One of these selections needs to be checked even if you have separately enabled the filtering feature on your video card [if so equipped].My experience with this has been based on using a Leadtek GF3 Ti500 video card. Your results may vary.Rick
