CD Burner

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good deal on a CD burner? I'm not looking for the latest razoo unit, just something adequate to backup my sim files. Thanks,Todd

There are hundreds of good burners available, at such good prices. Here is one I've purchased 6 or 7 of for work. No problems. Work as advertised. 32X write, 40X read. These are amazing times!bthttp://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=110990...at=511&scat=514

Todd - One thing to remember is that the discs for the sims themselves are probably copy protected. So, if you want to just backup your downloaded addons that's one thing. But if you also want to make a backup copy of the original CD's (which you are legally entitled to do) that can be another thing entirely. Many of the models you'll find in the "No-Name-Brands-From-Best-Buys-Latest-Ad" will handle the former but fail miserably on the latter. One reliable way around this problem is to check the list of supported CD writers found at http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/index.html . If the model you choose is on that list it will, when used with the right software such as CloneCD, Nero Burning ROM, or BlindWrite, do anything you'll ask of it.Trip

Thanks for the help guys. I was primarily interested in just backing up my add-ons, after having to reinstall everything when my hard drive committed suicide a short time ago. But being able to have back-up copies of the software is something to consider. Thanks again,Todd
