I just purchased the Asus V8460 (GF4/ti4600) card. Now, I cannot get my dual monitor set up to work (I had 2 video cards (AGP/PCI) before and had no problems). I upgraded my video card, because I thought one of the features of the GF4 was that it could run 2 monitors off of the single card.My specs are:AMD 1.4512MB RAMWindows 2000 Pro SP2Asus V8460 Ultra video card(tried both the 27.42 and the latest 29.32 drivers)Monitors: Sony 19" (standard style monitor)ViewSonic VA720 Flat Panel/LCDThe weird thing is that both monitors get a signal and display the same output until I get to Windows (then the non-primary monitor goes blank... and is not recognized). Also, if I remove the video drivers completely, I will get the display on both monitors until it reboots and gets back to Windows after re-loading the drivers.:-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!Thanks!

Update... after much searching around, I found the nView utility which will span the desktop across both monitors. Is this the only way to use the single card for two monitors? Also, is there a way to make it behave like the "extend" desktop option when you have two cards installed? Thanks!

Hi Bryan,You should be able to run both monitors off the Ti4600. What happens when you open display properties and select the settings tab, does it display two monitors? If it does, are you able to extend your desktop to the second monitor? From your above posts, it sounds like you've already tried this and it doesn't work. I saw someone post a similar problem for a different VC recently, but the problem apparently related to the fact that that card didn't support dual monitors. Yours should, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Could you post a screenshot of your display properties setting tab for a look-see?

Hi Bryan,This is a strange problem indeed. I'm afraid this one is out of my league. All that my pea-size brain can come up with is this: is it possible that the resolution setting is not compatible with either the DVI flat screen or your CRT monitor? This just doesn't make any sense to me since you do get a signal when using nView. If you select standard (nView disabled), do you now see both monitors in the display settings? Just for reference, here is what I see on my system. I'm sorry I can't be of more help :-(

Hi David,Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town for a little R&R... after looking at your profile tonight, I saw that I was in your neck of the woods this past weekend (San Diego). It looks like your system is pretty close to mine... the main difference is that you are running XP and I am running 2000. I also have the Asus card rather than the VisionTek.:-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmm I have tried many things tonight, including updating my system BIOS, but I cannot get Windows to recognize 2 monitors the normal way... I have to go through the nView utility. If I could trouble you for 2 more items about your set up... what monitors do you have plugged into your GF4 card (I did not see this in your profile description)? Also, could you post a screen shot of the GeForce4 Ti4600 tab under display settings so that I can compare it to mine. Maybe these will help me troubleshoot some more. Thanks!

Hi Bryan,I'm sorry, I forgot about this thread :-shy. Here is how my Ti4600 is set up. In the primary VGA out, I have my 19" NEC MultiSync FE950+. I then purchased a DVI to VGA adapter for the second out and connected my 17" MultiSync E700. Below is the GF4 Ti4600 tab. I Hope this helps.

Hi David,Thanks for the info... there are a couple of differences in the GF4 tab that I will need to investigate. Perhaps this will help get me moving down the right path. Thanks!

To those who might be having similar issues. I ran a test yesterday and believe the dual monitor issues are related to Windows 2000. I installed my GF4 card on a friends Windows XP machine and both monitors were recognized from the GF4 card. We then installed the GF4 card in his Windows 2000 machine, and the second monitor was not recognized by Windows.I guess the resolution will be to upgrade to XP.
