July 14, 200223 yr Hi!I am about to get a better joystick with a USB connector and Iunderstand Microsoft's Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 is good.Does anyone know if the hat-switch is continuous for view-panning,or is it just fixed views, like left-right-back-forward.My old Sidewinder Precision Pro (non-USB) has continuous panningwhich is a very important feature for me.Grateful for info.Live well.Hans HermanssonSweden
July 14, 200223 yr Hans,Yes, the Force Feedback 2 joystick does have continous panning in the virtual cockpit, just like the Precision 2 joystick. And yes, it is an excellent joystick and, like all MS hardware I have seen, very well built. The only caveat is that you would preferably want a machine running around 1 ghz upwards if you don't want the performance too suffer too much when FF is enabled. The MS FF products pay a penatly for their superb and tactile feedback, and that is they tend to use a fair chunk of processing power. But if your machine is around this spec or better, you will be OK.
July 14, 200223 yr Hello! And thanks for your reply.Obviously it has continuous panning.I take it that goes for any view; interior and exterior. My machine is 1700 mHz, an AMD Athlon XP2000+ with a GF4 4200Ti.I understand you recommend this stick??Thanks again!Hans HermanssonSweden
July 15, 200223 yr Hans,Yes to panning both inside and outside. Yes, I recommend the joystick if you wish to use a twist rudder force feedback setup.
