Upgrade advice for Athlon XP2100...

Featured Replies

I am considering upgrading to Athlon XP2100 from T-bird 1.4. My current setup is Abit KG7 (no raid)512 MB PC2100GeForce 4 Ti4400I am interested in frame rates for FS2K2. Currently getting low rates in busy airports 6-13 FPS(like most people, for instance simflyers LAX with very dense or dense details turned on, I use PAI planes for AI traffic). Wondering what kind of rates with better CPU, similar system I would get? Can anyone with similar upgrade tell me if it was worth it? ThanksBrian

I upgraded from a 1.4 Athlon to an XP2000+ and the difference was very noticable - go for it if you have the cash!Tom EvansBAV 757/767 Training Captain

I upgraded from Althon 1.2Ghz running at 1.37Ghz to Althon 1700+ running at 1964+ and I can see huge difference.Georgi

Hey Georgi nice overclocking on that 1700+ awesome! What type of cooling do you have, water? Pretty high there. I just got me a 1600+ AGOIA "Y" baby!!! Can't wait till i get my new mobo, case, and graphics card, to overclock this baby, FS here i come with no more lag!! Hehe. Pedro

No special cooling at all. The CPU was in retail box so it had fan and I used that fan,+ I have one case fan on back below power suply that sucks out air.I used to have 1.2Ghz overclocked to 1.37ghz and this is 1.47Ghz to 1.65 Ghz so its about 180Mhz overclock. You should be able to get your 1600+(1.4Ghz) to 1850+ without any problem. Be careful though, especialy with Vcore settings.Good luck and let me know how it goes ;)
