Best Motherboard for Athlon XP Processor?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, i just destroyed my mobo trying to update the bios. Dont know what went wrong, it updated fine, but now it just wont boot up. So i need a new one. What is the best motherboard to get now for an Athlon XP 2000+ processor? I need to get one today. Thanks!Chris

Chris, Been rumming an AMD 2100 on a ABIT KX7-333 for a bit now. The soft menue bios interface is great. Comes with hardware monitoring as well. Rock solid. This is a DDR memory board.

From my experisnce, mother board manufacture doesnt matter much comparing to the chipset. So pick a good deal and well known name, and make sure it has VIA KT333 chip and go with that one. Some may disagree, but thats my suggestion. DO NOT, again DO NOT EVER buy a motherboard with Ali Chipset no matter who makes it.

Thanks guys. I couldnt wait since i needed it today and i didnt have much time to go buy it. I got an ASUS A7V333 with a KT333 chipset. It has ATA 133 RAID, AGP Pro, 1394 ports, USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports, 6 channel audio, CPU overheat protection, and DDR 333. Motherboards.org rate it has the best motherboard for the Athlon XP processor and it scored a 94 on their review, top of the list! I will install it later tonight and see how it works out and hopefully i will get better performance in FS.Chris

Good choice :)Let us know how it goes ;)
