September 6, 200223 yr Hi!I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ CPU, an MSI KT3 Ultra mainboard,333mHz SDRAM, GF 4 Ti 4200 video card.I am not quite happy with the performance, so does anyone thinkthere is a point in upgrading the CPU? to a P 4 2.53 gHz?or an XP 2600+ ?I don't think the video card makes a great difference.Grateful for tips....Hans HermanssonSweden
September 6, 200223 yr Considering the fact that you alread have a AMD XP system, my bet would be on the XP 2600+ for the best upgrade. But I think that you could tweak some more performance out of that system before it's time to upgrade ;) >:-)
September 7, 200223 yr What is price difference of those two at the place where you are considering to get it at?If I was to have same choice, if AMD 2600+ was $30 or more cheaper than the P4 2.53, I will go with AMD.If price difference between 2 was less than $30 I would go with P4.I dont know if I was able to help but that's my poinion.

I have the same CPU with an Asus mobo overclocking the XP to 1.8 Gig which is the same speed as an XP 2200. I have a lesser card in the Geforce 3 Ti200. FS02 runs pretty much baby butt smooth for me,sometimes I back the cloud density off to about 50%.It'll be weeks--well into Oct. before you can get hold of an XP 2600 or 2800. AMD pulled a "paper" release on these CPU's. As much as I like AMD products I think thats a crap way to do business.David
