October 8, 200223 yr Hi all,I just received my new MS Sidewinder FF2 joystick; I ran the install program on the CD, which went fine, but when I plugged the joystick into the USB port, the computer is not able to find the drivers for it. I tried to browse folders and direct it to the FF2 folder, but to no avail. I looked everywhere for the drivers, and I think I found them, but my computer won't recognise them. Then, when I add the joystick in the Game Controllers window, under "status" it says "not connected". I looked in Device manager and it says there are no drivers installed for the joystick.I've tried just about everything, and it still won't work! I'm desperate...I've been deprived of serious flying with a joystick for a couple of months now ;)THANKS in advance for ANY help!RegardsFedericop.s. on a side note, I also received & installed a set of CH Pro Pedals, which work just fine...Forgot to add: my o/s is WinXP.
October 11, 200223 yr If you are running XP, you do not use the CD software. So, if you're running XP, uninstall that CD software and restart the computer with the USB connection plugged in and XP will do the rest.
October 11, 200223 yr Thanks for the suggestion...I tried it several times before, but it still won't install. The guided hardware installation gizmo says it can't find drivers for the device, and then in the Game controllers window, when I add the stick, it shows it as not connected (of course). I'm at a loss here....Could it be that my XP drivers are corrupt, or missing? I find it strange that it can't find them...Any other suggestions would be VERY much appreciated... Thanks Federico
October 11, 200223 yr Try a different USB port. The one you have it plugged into may be being used by something else. Like a digital camera or something.
October 11, 200223 yr Still nothing...not much hope left! It installs perfectly on my dad's computer, but on mine it says it can't find the drivers, even if I run the CD which is supposed to install them. I've tried all available USB ports - the one I plugged the pedals into didn't work with the joystick either. Windows reinstall? Distressing prospect...ThanksFederico
