PC Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I have been looking at the forum for some time now and you guys seem to have agood understanding of what is needed from a PC for FS2K, I was wondering if you could spare me some time for advice please.Current system.FS2000 with lots of add ons.Gigabyte GA-71XE MBAMD Athlon 800Mhz CPUNvidia TNT2 32mB video card128mB ram.I want to upgrade the PC to use FS2K2 w/o spending too much, after looking at the forum I thought of this.I think I can get a 1.3 Ghz CPU for the MB (XP will not work with this MB. This info from Gigabytes web site)Upgrade the ram to 512. The MB has 3 slots for ram.Change to a Geforce TI 4200 128 mb V/C, or would 64mB be enough? The question is really to either go this route or change the MB as well and hence get a faster CPU, say an XP1800 or faster. If this is the better route which MB give best bang for buck? Thanks in advance for any suggestionsWaldroa767PIC enthusiast.BTW got to have a go in a 777 simulator the other day.....absolutley mind blowing!!

I would definitely upgrade your card. Although your CPU will technically run games it's getting dangerously near the minimum requirements. I would upgrade board, CPU, video and do with DDR ram. I have a GeForce 4 Ti4200 64MB and love it. Best bang for the buck video card.my system specs are at http://www.ccgr.org/system.htm
