Figured out what was wrong with my reinstall of XP, ala' "Help me please, Please help me!"http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/service411.htmRacking my brain, after two complete re-installs of XP, I thought..."what's different now". Then it came to me. As part of my old setup, I had spent quite a bit of time, experimenting, disabling various services. I had forgotten completely about it. Now, I have revisited that effort, and the payback is tremendous. I bet I've got at least half if not more of my services disabled. BTW, disabling them as opposed to putting them in "Manual" helps with determining what services you turned off. Most bank for the buck...Indexing service. Probably the biggest cause of Stutter in my opinion. Oh yeah...one other thing I did was to install Intel's application accelerator. YMMV. I had it on before the reimage, and now my new box matches my old one in both config and performance.Cheers,bt
