Hey thanks for reading. I'm looking for a new PC. I would like P4 3.06 Ghz. I'd would like sugestions on what to do to make my FS2002 to run smooth for once. Any thing would be better than my P2 400. It runs around 10 to 8 frames a minute what is a good frame rate. Please give your sugestion to me and if you now where I could get a good deal or if it is possible to build my own tower. Thanks Scot.

You'll have some tough choices with a P4You have to choose between DDR or Rambus both have their advantages and disadvantages however DDR is cheaper. For videocards, the ATI 9700 Pro owns the crown for now but for $100 less you can get an Ti4600. What price range are you looking at, perhaps I can help ya out.

A lot of people are very satisfied with AMD processors, so make sure you read as many reviews as possible before making up your mind for Intel for sure.Whatever you finally choose to do, do not skimp on the case/power-supply. These days there are well-designed cases with quiet fans by companies such as Antec, etc... Don't try to put the fast, high-heat processors and video boards into an old 1-fan case.I got my machine configured by one of those large "discount" houses, (one that I have been dealing with for over 3 years and believe to be "reputable"). I selected all name-brand parts that I wanted, including the tower, and they built it. Been a couple of months and quite satisfied. Don't believe it would have been any cheaper to assemble myself...Art.

A decent 1GHz comp can run FS2002 pretty well with a good video card. I'm quite happy with my 1.2GHz Athlon system. I can run FS2002 at 30fps (thats what its locked at) with all sliders maxed out on my Athlon 1.2GHz and ATI Radeon 7200. You can also get these lower spec comps for extremely cheap too, and they offer performance similar to high spec comps if you get the right stuff in them.I think a P4 3.06GHz is overkill. The price is very expensive and I dont think its worth it. I think it would be a lot more cost effective to get a little older 1GHz to 2.2GHz comp. Dont let the GHz fool you, faster doesnt always mean better. A good AMD Athlon XP setup can easily take on a P4 (My Athlon 1.2 T-bird can nearly beat a P4 1.8GHz).

Thanks for your help. So do you build computers and which ram is better what would you run. Thanks

Hey Zack, The only reason I thought that the 3 Ghz was that I read on this site that the first time that FS2002 ever ran smooth with all options maxed out was with a P4 2.8 Ghz and a GeForce 128 MB video card with 512 DDR. So you are telling me that your PC does just fine with your set up. Reason why I ask is I love to fly FS 2002 and I get frustrated at the jerky frames and 1 second lock ups as I approach Big airports than that takes all the fun out of it. If it works fine I would like to get something sooner than I thought. My frame rates depending on if night or day flying 4-12.5 Thanks for writing me, Scot Mason

Hey Art thanks for the reply, I was thinking of a new case and 400W to 550W power supply what do you think. Thanks Scot Mason
