December 5, 200223 yr Hi,Having flown millions of miles with my trusty Sidewinder Precision Pro (game port type) joystick, I`m going to PC World tomorrow for a new one (giving my old one to my daughter).Which one would you suggest (USB type)?I don`t want a flight yoke type.Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 USB?Force Feedback Pro 2 ?I`m a bit wary of the Force Feedback type, any comments on this would be very, very helpful please, can you describe it in use & any disadvantages with it ?Any other makes ?I like to fly light aircraft, mainly VFR, but now & then heavies.Thank you,Rob
December 5, 200223 yr I'm quite happy with my Logitech Wingman Digital 3D joystick. It can be used in either the gameport or USB port (with the adapter thing, which is included). It's not force feedback though, I didnt want a FF joystick. It has a good feel and the button placement is easy to use (I had the same exact button mappings since FS98 days LOL). Only prob that I have with it, is that it "wears out" after a year or so of constant use (I use mine almost everyday), and requires adjustments.
December 6, 200223 yr If you have the money for it, I'd get a HOTAS Cougar from thrustmaster. I have one and abso-freakin-lutely love it more than any other joystick I've ever used. It has nice and stiff springs so the stick doesn't feel "mushy" like some of the other ones I've used, (Saitek X36+35T USB, CH F-16 Combat stick analog, CH Flight Stick Pro analog, MS precision, Thrustmaster Top Gun USB, Gravis Phoenix) It doesn't have rudder inputs tho, which is a no biggie if you have pedals. :7 Good luck with the choosin'!-drew
