Mobo for AMD2600+ 333MhzFSB??

Featured Replies

Opinions needed. I got an 2600+ CPU @333 as an early present today from a show. Good price. Had upgraded my Abit kx7-333 bios to accept...put it in, no go. My board is only running100/133 double rate...so only 266 bus speed. So I would have to find a 2600+ @266 instead.... What a great excuse to up the mobo!!!!. How stupid....so after the first of the year(another show), I want to get a new Mobo with 333mhz FSB, and might as well get the 8x agp. Have 2700DDR, which should be no problem. I've had ASUS, and Abit..not familiar with anything else. At least I was able to take the CPU out and in and out and in without much problems. Love this oversized server case!!! Thanks in advance....

Take a look at Anandtech.com and tomshardware.com, and others, for reviews, but I hear the Nvidia2 chipset isn't too shabby!Have fun,

After it popped in my head....Put the new 2600+ in again, went to setup / to soft menue on the CMOS. Set the parementers to user defined. Set the FSB to 166...166x2=333 and mutiplier to >13, the agp/pci diveders to 5, 2, 1 and wala!!! Just did some major testing with 3dmark 2000, 2002, and pc mark 2002. Seems stable, and fast. Now.......do I tell the wife when she gets home..or do I stick with...sh**, I got to get a new Mobo. Ya see, she thinks it's not in there due to my earlier stupidity/over sight!! :-wink2

Why spend your money where it is not needed! Sounds like you got your systems where you want it!

Scott, Yeah.... I'll be keeping it that way......just a little humor about the wife. Until the next major overhal!!!!. I usually sell or give away my unused stuff, but will hold on to the AMD1900. See ya on the forums.
