High guys.I have searched the WEB for the answer to this question. What is the "normal" operating Temp of a PIV 2.53ghz Intel ChipMine starts off at 40degrees Celsius.Warms up to 45-46During Flight sim play it gets to 61 C.Is this normal, alright, terrifying or could be better?Stock Heatsink and Fan, not installed by me..so who knows what method of heatsink compound was used to mate the heatsink and CpuI had seen 71 C during a test of 1600X1200 at 85hz in flightsim. So i took the side off the Tower, and changed the display back to the 1280x1024 mode that i like.

See ftp://download.intel.com/design/Pentium4/...ts/29864307.pdf for the basic thermal specs. The reliability maximum on the 2.53 is 71-72C. The "normal" range I've seen for the P4 with the stock Intel heatsink/fan is 42-48C at idle and 50-58C under a full load (such as FS2002). That's with a room temp of around 21C and a normally-cooled ATX case.. The general rule I use is that anything under 60C is just fine, but if the temp starts pushing above 65C it may be time to look at the cooling. Trip

I'm still running the stock HS w mine and at an OC 2.7 Ghz I run 38C at idle and after 1 hour of FS2K2 around 45-47C. The only thing I do run is Artic Silver paste only.Bobby
