I've just been browsing through the catalogue from my hardware dealer, and on a whim I did a little comparing between some of the CRT and TFT monitors they have listed. And since it could be that I might be buying a new screen some day in the foreseeable future (though at present I have no urgent plans to do so), I've got two questions which I'd like to ask up front.First of all, is it true what I've been hearing that present TFT screens are actually quite well-suited for gaming? Moreover, I noticed that those TFTs I took a look at (and which were mostly from Samsung or Iiyama) all appeared to have a lower max frequency than CRTs of the same size. For example, I was looking at an Iiyama 19" CRT (would have to look again for the type) which offered way over 100 MHz even above 1024x768, while a 19" TFT from the same manufacturer would offer "only" some 80 Hz and a max resolution of 1024x768, whereas the CRT could be cranked up to something like 1900x something. Do you think these differences might be very noticeable in daily use? I'm asking because I've been running my trusty old Belinea 17" CRT at 1024x768x75 Hz for a long time, and only a few days ago I noticed that I could actually go as far as 85 Hz - and in my view (pun ;-) )the difference *is* remarkable indeed. Thanks & cheers,
