I have an nVidia-based mobo, AMD Athlon 1800+, 512 MB RAM, GeForce4 Ti 4200 video card. Windows XP Home edition. I have just finished my 4th fresh re-install of FS2002. I'm having system lock-up problems and I still don't know what is causing it but this other problem really has my ears buzzing (or whirring, like a propeller)...I load the default B-737 and take off. Using headphones, I can hear this clearly. In the forward view, it sounds like a jet. When I change the throttle, I hear the faint sounds of a propeller engine. If I switch to look RIGHT or LEFT, on one side, I hear the jet engine, and on the other side, I hear, very clearly, a propeller engine (in it's own speaker channel). As I change the throttle looking RIGHT or LEFT, the propeller engine increases/decreases (speed) as well. This is not very realistic and it has occurred with every re-install of FS2002. Any help would be greatly appreciated! All my drivers are up-to-date. I'm still trying to find a cure to the system lock-up problem, but can we solve the sound problem? Thanks!Mike

I had the problem with the sounds at one point, was hearing jets in prop planes and vice versa. Finally i started downloading jet sounds etc. Just because i didnt know what else to do. Some of the default sounds are lame but, If you go to the sound folder of that particular plane, their will be a file called "SOUND.CFG" Make sure it says exactly the same plane it is your flying. Or it might say "alias=cessna sounds" Make sure that particular plane is there also. It uses sounds from other aircraft i believe, so if you were to accidentally delete a plane, you will get no sound or something weird :( Dunno about the lock-up problem your having.........but Goodluck!=Swiv=

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm looking at the .cfg file now and it looks ok so far. The aircraft is the default B737-400 that came with FS2002. That's the one I fly most often. The propeller sound occurs at random times. I might just load up the sound files and listen to them. I had FS2002 on my old computer, which is now toast, and it sounded fine. When I got the new computer, FS2002 flies smoother, but I have the sound problem.Oh, I also don't hear the marker (OM, MM, IM) tones and sometimes, when I use ATC, it's a whisper even when I turn everything else down (volume). Something screwy.Another response I got elsewhere suggested it was the sound card. I'm using the built-in nVidia (mobo) sound device which seems to work fine for other sound applications but not this one. I might try upgrading to a 3rd party sound card. Thanks again!Mike
