Best digital Camera for $200~$250 USD?

Featured Replies

Now that I started work from this week, at $10/h and 18 hours a week,(which is very good for my age, usually work that is available for collegestudents around here will only pay you $7, 8 Max, I go to this work2 times a week from 9am to 6pm, then the other 3 days I go to college)I am wondering what kind of digital camera to get when I receive my 1st pay.Right now I have 640x480, no zoom, no screen, very cappy camerathat can't do any good job and I've been thinking of gettingnew digital camera for about 2.5 years now, so I think I waited long enough. ;)So far I've come up with 3 choices. (not in any order)1. for $250.2. [link:www.powershot.com/powershot2/s200/index.html]Canon S200 for $280I was leaning toward the Sony since its size is just amazing whencompared to any other 2 megapixel camera, but it has way toolittle features for the $270 price when compared to the Nikon for $250.Some thing I like about this Canon that Sony and Nikon doesn't haveis video WITH sound, other two doesn't support sound in video mode.Is there anyone who owns either one of these or similar ones?Or, even if you don't own it if people can give me some suggestions I will really appreciate it.Thanks in advance.Georgi

I have this camera, it is really amazing Kodak DX 4330Here is a picutre from it, taken directly from the camera, no resize or edit, and when they are resized, they really look amazing, I normally resize them to about 1380x920 or 920x1380 and that's a 4x6 picturehttp:// members.shaw.ca/kstangrecki/100_0159.JPGhttp:// members.shaw.ca/kstangrecki/100_0160.JPGLet me know what you think about that camera, and it has movie mode with audio!EDIT: Ok, If I were you I would save up some to get to $300, the camera does have good zoom abilites as well, 3x Optical and 10x Digital. I can't get the pictures link to work properly, so just remove the space between the last "/" and the "m" in http://

Wow, It does make some amaizing images but my initial budget was $200so actually all the models that are listed are way over the limitbut I really wanted the optical zoom or small Sony so I chose to spend a bit more.$300 is way over my limit :(, I should edit my post perhaps. (actually will do so now)Thank you though, some beautiful images. :)

I been looking for cheap, but good cameras too. A friend of mine who just got a new camera is gonna sell his Nikon Coolpix 775 for pretty cheap (around 200 dollars), and from pics I seen, its a excellent camera. Also some of the cheaper Kodak cameras (such as the DX3215 and DX3500) offer pretty good picture quality while being affordable (around 150 to 200 dollars).I think I have the world's worst digital camera right now. Only 640x480 with interpolating to create a 1.3MP image. The images that come out of that camera are horrible (grainy and blur on the right side of the image) and it eats the 4 AA batteries for breakfast. Trust me, I know what you mean when you say your camera is poor, because mine is worse LOL. I been using my dad's expensive SLR flim camera for quality shots lately, but I hate how film isnt instant like digital is.

The Nikon is a very good camera for the price. Another consideration is the Fujifilm 2650. It is 2MP, 3X optical zoom, not many manual features but truly outstanding image quality. I get more than 200 photos off a pair of NIMH batteries, and best of all it can be found online for about $150 US. You could then use the money you saved to buy a 64 or 128MB XD card. 64MB gives you more than 100 photos at the highest quality settings. Add a set of 1850mAh NIMH batteries and you are ready to go. In addition, the XD media format has very fast write speeds, so you do not spend a lot of time waiting for the camera to be ready for the next shot. This was my first digital camera and I have been very pleased by the quality of the images, great for 4X6, 5x7 and even acceptable for 8x10. I have since won a high end HP 4MP camera from one of my industry vendors at a training event...but I remain impressed with the Fuji and use it often.Sarnac

I have the Nikon cool pix and think it takes some nice pics

Can you tell me where to find it for $150?So far the best place I've seen is http://store.yahoo.com/henrydigital/fuji.htmlwhere $300 camera in stores are about $220 (like Fuji A302)but the camera you talk about is $200.

Well, I stand corrected. When I purchased mine last September, I paid $152 from www.digitalfotoclub.com. Now, the lowest price I see is from www.pcmall.com for $169.Still a great deal. Make sure to check your local Wolf camera/Ritz camera and similar retailers because many of them have recently advertised it for $200 but they included 64MB cards as well. One additional thought, check out your local Walmart photo departments. I have noticed recently that two different Walmarts in my area have had clearance tables set up with good quality, unopened Fujifilm, Olympus and Toshiba Digital cameras for $125 - $150 for 2mp, and $175-250 for 3 mp.If you have not already done so, check out these sites for digital camera reviews before you make your final decision:www.steves-digicams.comwww.dpreview.comhttp://electronics.cnet.comSarnac

Thank you so much, I knew the steve's site but didn't know about others, they have some wonderful info.I'll report back here when I buy it in a week or two. :)Thank you to everyone again.
