April 11, 200323 yr Hello gentlemen,I would appreciate your expertise as I am in the process of replacing my nvidia TI4400 geoforce 4 for a new graphic card.I heard a lot of contracditory comments on the issue and I would like to share your thoughts on this point, this is, in a simple way, rummours that I have heard so far from various gamers:-ATI 9700 PRO, outstanding performance but a lot of compatibility issues.-The Hercules version has better performance but more bugs than the HIS model.-TI4800, good, stable, but not reaching level of 9700 PRO.-TI5000* should be the one to look for and first one with 256mb memory, a new level in graphic.I have a P4, 1.8mhz and would like to know if enough to support such cards, seems to me a bit weak....(works fine anyway with my TI4400)Should I upgrade the motherboard and the CPU as well ?Many thanks for giving your comments as I love to fly but am definitely not an expert on those matters.Best regardsPatrick Geneva
April 11, 200323 yr the 9700 card is indeed really sweet but there have been mixed reviews. The Nvidia FX cards will be out shortly and those will support Direct X 9. 1.8Ghz is a decent CPU but that will be the bottle neck if you planning on spending over $300 on a video card. What kind of memory is it running?

Make sure you are running the ,latest chipset drivers and Bios before installing the card and the drivers. Also make sure you runn the Omega drivers from www.omegadriver.comMy Retail 9700 does as well as the Hercules w only Heatsinks added to the memory.Absolutely correct. Good card but no comparison. The old addage I'll see it when I believe it. Wasn't it the same company that said the FX would school the 9700?. Now that didn't happen did it.Good luck in your decision.Bobby
