lock ups (freeze frame) power supply and other issues...

Featured Replies

Since moving from the Athlon 2100+ to the 2800+ my system has begun to experience lockups. Here are some of my specs:Upgraded heatsink and fan (copper based for the 2800+300 Watt powersupplyASUS KT400 512MB SDRAMNVidia GeForce4 4200+The ony things I changed was the CPU and heatsink and fan, but I never used to experience lockups, now I do, and it just seems to be with FS2002 about 30 to 45 minutes into it.My CPU and MB temps are right about where they should be, so I don't think heat is an issue. Do you think that maybe my 300 watt power supply is limiting me? Do you think that is what is causing the lockups? Any other ideas? Thanks,Robb

Robb, Are you sure your temps are where they are supposed to be?. Are you using the default MB program or Bios to measure the temps or an add on product like motherboard monitor?. Software based and bios based temp readings can be as high as 10 degrees off. More than enough to throw the system into a lockup. Also, 300 watts is borderline with the 2800+ and your setup. Don't think that's the problem but it's still on the low side..Bobby

Thanks,My CPU is the TB (2.25Ghz) version. My temps, as measure by my BIOs are 36C 96F and CPU 41C 105F. Does that sound ok, even assuming they might be 10 degrees too low...Thanks,Robb
