April 29, 200323 yr Hello, I am thinking of downloading Direct X9.0, version a, as well as the latest Nvidia drivers for my TI4400 Geo4 (43.45win2Kxp).I would like to share your expenrience and have two questions on this issue:a)Would like to know if someone had good results, performance increase, better FPS after installing those drivers, in other words, it is worth getting them?b)Another question; in general, when installing new drivers, is this better or risky to completely delete the old ones will the system automatically select the most recent ? Is that any guide on drivers replacement available through the net ?Many thanks for your time.Patrick Geneva
April 29, 200323 yr If your system is working well, don't bother with DirectX9.0a, there will be no performance gains. Conversely, at some point you will need to upgrade the API, so why not now, to give you time to sort out any problems? It's easy with XP, just create a system restore point before you begin so you can go back if you have to.As for drivers, www.guru3d.com has everything you need, inlcuding the 43.45 drivers in a self-installing format that removes the old drivers for you and installation guides if you want to do it manually and some files to help you clean out the old entries. The official 43.45's are also at the main Nvidia website.I would also recommend that you also make sure you have upgraded the chipset drivers if you plan on upgrading to DirectX9.0a and make sure all BIOS updates are current.ChasW
April 29, 200323 yr Using the latest official release nVidia drivers and using DX9a, I got a 3 FPS rate increase across the board.Very happy with the combo.Cheers!Mitch R.
April 30, 200323 yr I know I have said it a thouand times and it seems like people are finally listening LOL. Try the omega drivers from www.omegacorner.com. Sure to put a smile on your face. :)Bobby
May 6, 200323 yr Bobby, thanks for your reply. I just need to clarify something, I have downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers on their site (43.45).When I go to Omega, I find the 43.41.As per your experience, are the Omega ones more efficient ?I read on Omega that you can select install option by Performance or Quality.Only thing that worries me a bit is all those things you need to change in your BIOS as I am not a pc expert. Many thanks for your commentsPatrick
