Need help bad--Radeon 9500 Pro just isn't working!

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Just popped in a 9500 Pro, worked quite well, drivers installed OK, no problem. I had previously used Driver Cleaner to remove all traces of NVidia drivers.Unfortunately, I then booted up FS2002 and it's like I don't even have a video card. The ground "textures" are like 2-foot-wide green and brown chunks. What used to be tire tracks down the runway now look like big black lines. Jaggies and blurries are everywhere.So...I tried different drivers. No dice.Tried the Rage3D tweaks. No dice.Tried resolution refresh fix program. No dice.Tried pulling the card and reinstalling it. No dice.Tried deleting the fs2002.cfg and letting it rebuild. No dice.Any ideas? Could this be a power problem? A defective card? It just seems odd to me that it would be recognized by XP, yet not really function. My multi-monitor setup works great, no problems extending the desktop, switching resolutions, etc.. It's only when I go into FS that things go *^$!, but that's why I bought the card in the first place.System specs other than the 9500 Pro:Sony VAIO P4 2.4 GHzWindows XP Home512 MB DDR RAM2 80G HDsPioneer DVD-RWPlextor CD-RW19" and 17" monitorsFS 2002RoadRunner cable modemAny help would be *much* appreciated!!!Marc

Well, somehow I got it working. I wish I had a detailed fix that I could write down and archive, but I just kept screwing around, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and at one point I popped into FS and it worked. Weird stuff. That was a pretty crappy six or seven hours; my girlfriend thinks I've gone nuts. (I get a bit animated with computers sometimes.)Now the only minor problem I have is the text in the ATC window and the ATIS is a bit weird-looking and kind of hard to read. I'm pretty sure I've seen a fix for this somewhere, so I can probably fix that too.Sorry about the waste of bandwidth for those who open this thread.Marc

Make sure your Direct X is up to date, I've noticed ATI drvies rely heavily on DirectX...if there's any problems with DX, you're guaranteed trouble with ATI
