Hey guys, I notice that a lot of people here average 15-20 fps or greater on the ground in dense sceneries. In my case, i cannot compare to that. I can average around 10 or less most times, and depending on the aircraft I use, i can go all the way down to 5 fps. Now this is not even with every slider at max. I do not think i have a bad system as my specs are comparable to most on here. What am i doing wrong and how can i fix this? Here are my specs...ASUS A7V333 mobo /w KT333 chipset, 133MHz FSB /w latest drivers and BIOSAthlon XP 2000+ chip overclocked at 1.71 GHz.512 MB PC2100 (or PC2700 - not sure) RAMGeForce2 GTS/Pro 64 Mb graphics card, 43.45 detonator driversAudigy Sound Card, driver version 5.12.1.253 dated 8/12/02Windows XP Professional /w SP1FS2002 ProfessionalDirectX 9.0a40 GB HD, 7200RPM - IBM32 GB HD, 5400RPM (back up and pagefile)Creative Burner (not sure of the specs on this - very slow)17 in. Chris,Unfortunately bud your experiencing the framerates you are do to your video card. Although you can attain fairly acceptable graphics w the card your framerates will not be very satisfactory. FS2k2 is very CPU/GPU dependant.I don't know your financial situation but I can tell you that for around $180 bucks you can pick yourself up an ATI 9500Pro. With very easy mods and a slight overclock this card can run stable at 9700 rates. (Stock 9700). I don't like telling people they have to spend money and in all honesty your cpu and memory is basically sufficient for decent performance w the sim. Your just choking in the Video Card department.Hope this helpsBobby

Thanks,Do you think it is wise to get a 9700 now, or wait for the new Nvidia FX cards? And you dont think any settings or conflicts could also be hurting me, ive seen some people report better frames than me with the same card.Chris

Chris,As far as waiting for the next Nvidia cards that is purely a personal choice. The 97-9800 are as fast a card as you will ever need for todays games and will probably carry you through till at least 2004-5 unless someone comes up with a game engine more demanding than that which will run the new DoomIII. I was wrong instating the 9500 was below 200 dollars. The lowest I have seen it recently is 204 US Dollars. Are you running a lot of AI traffic?. This is one of the biggest killers to framerates. Also, some people may be getting better framerates but what are the settings they are running. What CPU,memory type etc. Too many variables to conclusively say.Try turning all your sliders to the left and than slowly move them up till your framerates fall below acceptable levels. Also trun off ground shadows and reflections and see if these all help.Bobby

Well i went and brought me a Radeon 9700 Pro All in wonder today it sure does increase the frame rates. With all the sliders to the max, i can get from 12-15 fps looking around at dense sceneries like simflyers KATL. When looking close up on an aircraft, i get frames between 25-30 fps. Its a huge improvement. I only get about 3-4 frames improvement on the A320PIC though. Thanks again.Chris
