May 30, 200323 yr Is there a significant performance difference between the AGP graphic cards and the PCI graphic cards? I noticed some of the new boards come in both configurations. Since I'm sure my AGP slot is only 4X could I get around that bottleneck with the PCI card?GW
May 30, 200323 yr 4xAGP is not a bottleneck. Running an 8xAGP board & card will get you about 2 percent more. An AGP card will run a whole lot faster than any PCI card. About the only real purpose of a PCI card nowadays is if you want to run with two graphics cards for some reason.
May 30, 200323 yr This is straight from the May issue of Maximum PC on page 10:Motherboard Bus Bandwith Comparison:ISA - 16.7 MB/sPCI - 133 MB/sAGP 1X - 266 MB/sAGP 2X - 532 MB/sAGP 4x - 1.05 GB/sAGP 8x - 2.10 GB/sand the soon to be realeased PCI Express technology:8.0 GB/s !!I hope that answered your question about which card would be better..Scott
