July 9, 200322 yr Hi,like most of you,I'm anxiously awaiting FS ACOF, but to run it smoothly with a lot of eye candy and good graphics, I was thinking of upgrading my currecnt computer: my currect specs:P4 1,5Ghz256MB RAMGeforce 3 64MBWhat should I do to have excellent graphics while still maintaining fluidity? I was thinking of doubling up the processor and the RAM. Would that be enough? Will a GEforce 3 64MB suffice?
July 9, 200322 yr Hold tight on any upgrade until you've had a chance to fly FS2004. If you match up sliders between both sims, you'll find performance comparable. Even clouds won't kill it if you keep the settings reasonable...search under my name in the screenshots forum for my last post. I'm getting some beautiful performance on a very old system. The only advice I can give you--upgrade your RAM. FS2004 uses about 45-50 megs more memory than FS2002. I raised mine to 384 megs a couple of days after I had the gold to examine. Made a huge difference....even sim load times went down.Regards,
July 10, 200322 yr Agreed on the RAM being the most cost effective upgrade in this situation, but would advise going to 512MB. You'll notice a bigger difference, and as in my case, it totally eradicated a problem I had with lockups.
