July 18, 200322 yr I just ordered the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 256MB DDRII, will arrive early next week. Also, order was 512mb PC 3000 Kingston HYPERX. The final FS2004 set is as follows:P4 2.4gHz, 1Gig PC3000 HYPERX (Kingston), Soyo Dragon lite M/B :( , Western Digital SE 160Gig 8mb buffer HD 7200 rpm. Sony 19" FLAT triniton.Any suggestions on getting her fine tuned for FS2004 and MEGASCENERY!! :)
July 18, 200322 yr Unfortunately the MB is the weak link in this system otherwise you could have seen the highside of 2.8 Ghz w that cpu ram combo w 100% stability and factory cooling. A better route would have been a 9700Pro for around $259 and the rest spent on a good Dual Channel DDR MB But alas it's too late :) Still would have come in under what you spent for the 98Now to answer your qustion, search tips and tweaks section for scenery settings, turn the wick up on the 9800 a tad :) and keep your target framerate around 22-25 FPS. With 4XAA and 16XAF the card can easily see this at resolutions as high as 1600x1200 w a light ATC load. Good luck :)Bobby
July 19, 200322 yr HEhehhe,I just installed the 512mb HyperX.. With my current settings I see a 25-50% increase in FPS at JFK. FS2002pro loaded heavy of course.. The ATI Pro 9800 256mb will be arriving wendsday. FedEx confirmed :)FPS can I expect to 30fps with EVERYTHING maxed out with FS2002 and FS2004 most importantly..I took the Ready for Pushback 747-200 for a circling (45-60 degree banks) approach as KSEA it was nearly divine. :)
July 19, 200322 yr I hate to say it but I doubt you could get a solid 30 FPS on any system with the RFP 742 at a non-default airport with everything maxed and weather present.

http://timbo87.home.comcast.net/sig/vulc.jpg

| [link:www.alphasim.co.uk]Alpha Sims]
[/table

July 19, 200322 yr FPS,I almost messed my shorts tonight.. sighhhhhhhhhhI updated up my chipset drives and the bios. I am now at 533FSB thanks to the bios update, everything humming. Well i got greedy and tried to overclock the cpu. I typed in 166 to replace 133 for the CPU clock speed. That was all :( She started to reboot with power but NO VIDEO SIGNAL or indication of a heart beat. She was in a COMA!! Anyway, I went through the manual and ended up having to short out the CMOS and she came back too life. Thank GOD and J/C. I put the cpu clock speed back to 133 now she is very happy.Anyway, she is humming quite well now.FedEx says the 9800 pro 256mb is in Atlanta and just departed !! :) it moves while i sleep, even with FedEx 3 day super saver. That is reassuring. Right now I have a ATI 9000 128mb.. the upgrade should be significant I hope... But I do love the look of the 2X512 mb Hyper X cards in my see through neon case.. very sexy lookingHow can I take screen shots in FS?BB

July 19, 200322 yr Thank you paulL for your input,I was not refering to the perfomance gains 25-50% due to the speed increase. It was due to increasing from 512-1gig, for most aircraft anyway. He has just arrived in Tennaseeeeee
July 20, 200322 yr Yeaa... she's in town at the airport. But I can't pick up and they will not deliver till tues/wends. :(
