GPUs in laptops

Featured Replies

Hi folks! I've just got FS2004 and it seems that my relatively new GeForce 4 460 GO doesn't work well with it.My question is: Users of PCs can change their graphics card anytime by simply opening the computer's case. What about users with laptops? I have a laptop with the above mentioned GF4 GO 460. Am I stuck with this for the rest of this laptop's life, or is there some way to change it?:) Melvin Rafihttp://www.meljet.com/images/MelJet-logo-01.jpgwww.meljet.com

Take a look at this site: http://www4.tomshardware.com/mobile/20020220/ There are some stern warnings about going into a laptop and changing daughter boards and opening a laptop voids the warranty, if you care about that sort of thing. That said, technically you should be able to change out the cards depending on the maker of the laptop and what proprietary details they have put in/on the video card. Best thing is to contact the laptop maker. Laptops can be very cranky beasties.

Hi Melvin,I've also got the Go 460 in my Toshiba laptop. Ran great on FS2002, but things have been tough with FS2004, even though I upgraded to 1MB RAM. I'm holding out hope that there are improvements to be discovered, since many desktops with high-end cards are having trouble. But in the meantime, what kind of issues are you seeing, with what settings?Mike
