Joystick/Gamepad Question

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of upgrading my very old Sidewinder to something newer like the Logitech Digital Extreme (non-FF). Does anyone have any experience with this particular stick (especially in FS9!) and what your thoughts might be on it?On a related subject, but not FS related, does anyone have experience with the Logitech Gamepad Rumblepad? I'm thinking of it for another game I have (not for FS, but thought I'd ask anyway). I use Win XP Pro with an ATI Radeon 9800 256 video card and a high end CPU.Thanks very much for any assistance.Glenn

I have 2 Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D's (one out of the box and one I took apart and made non-centering), they are actually pretty good if you get used to them. I had a Wingman Extreme 3D since late FS98 days and I like the feel to them. I also like them because they can swap from gameport to USB easily. On the other hand, the Logitech sticks do need regular mantenence occasionally (like after a year or so of constant use). The sensors inside the joystick get loose and start to be not accurate anymore. I just take the stick apart and rotate all the sensors and put them back in place and the stick is good as new. Of course a lot of people are squirmish about taking stuff apart, but it seems this is what you gotta do sometimes when you get this stick. Oh well LOL.

Thanks very much for this Zack! I find a huge difference in price between the Sidewinder and the Logitech, so a little maintenance isn't a big deal as far as I'm concerned. Besides, I hadn't better mind taking things apart and servicing them - I'm an Avionics Tech :-lol.Any other opinions would be most appreciated.Glenn
