October 16, 200322 yr I took the leap today to ATI, went and got the Sapphire 9500, well I am having a little bit of trouble. My autogen - this is constant shimmering and so is the texture on the ground, 4X AA, 8x AF.Flickering - Lots of this when in the menu's.Framerate - This is somthing I've deeply suprised on, it has droped about 7fps from my 64Mb Geforce Ti4200.Any help on this issue would be great, I'm running the Catalyst 3.6 aswell.

In display properties window make sure mipmap detail level is set to quality. Understand that you will have a slight shimmer with these cards.>Flickering - Lots of this when in the menu's.Head on over to WWW.Omegacorner.com and download the latest set of "Leaked" Dell drivers reworked by DA MAN. Say goodbye to menu flickering.>Framerate - This is somthing I've deeply suprised on, it has>droped about 7fps from my 64Mb Geforce Ti4200.Could it be your running a higher quality setting than you were with the G4?. You also, MUST make sure you remove any and all references to the Nvidia drivers from your system. Use a good driver removal tool such as Det Destroyer. Also, it is imperitive that you are running the latest set of MB chipset drivers for your particular setup. In all honesty the 9500 should give more frames with 4XAA and 8XAF enabled than the G4 with both of thses disabled. Around 30% minimum more.>Any help on this issue would be great, I'm running the>Catalyst 3.6 aswell.Try these suggestions and let me know how you make out.Bobby
October 16, 200322 yr >You also, MUST make sure you remove any and all references to the Nvidia drivers from your system.I did that bobby, I installed the card on a complete Reformat.I didnt install my Antivirus fast enough, so I got 2 viruses just for having my PC On!! Those are gone now.I will report back when I try those suggestions, little busy at this time, putting wood in for the winter lol, I'll give those a go tonight. Thanks !!!!!!!
October 17, 200322 yr Ok.This seems alot nicer now, frames holding at 25 locked, and no flickers! :-)I have a question, what was this 9500-9700 soft mod buisness?. I didn't install it, but I did install the RAD overclocker thing, and this card is only 276/270?. The Ti4200 I had was 250/500.. how can this be right? LOL

The Ti4200 I had was>250/500.. how can this be right? LOLThe softmod enables you to run the card at close to 9700 clock speeds 324/310 and also opens up the 4 additional Mem pipelines. It doesn't work on all cards but when it does the results are definitely worth it. :)Give it a try. Just go in and reinstall the drivers over the current ones you have this time enabling the 9500-9700 soft mod. Run the sim and see if there is a difference. If there is than chances are it worked. Also, if you enable the Radclock utility you'll find you can run the card at 300-324 core and 300-310 Mem. Stock 9700 Speeds. :) I am able to run my 9700Pro at 418/385 100% stable with aircooling. Thats almost a 100Mhz core OC and a 70Mhz Mem OC. Makes for some nice framerates :)Any problems let me know.Bobby
October 17, 200322 yr Well install the Softmod tonight, but I just benched again and was up to 10500 3dmarks in 2001Se, but that is still not up to my 11186 my Ti4200 gave, also, with the slow azz catal drivers my 3dmark was 4000.
October 18, 200322 yr Vert,Want to raise your score a ton? Now granted this doesn't benchmark real world settings but will give you an idea of what your machine is capable of when set for maximum performance try these steps...Stop any unneeded services such as AV software, print spoolers, etc. A good reference are the service guides over at WWW.Blackviper.COMTry running his settings for "Internet".In your display properties, set all sliders to high performance for D3D and OpenGL.Set AA and AF to application preference.Set monitor refresh rate to 60Hz.Disable VSYNC (Always Off).Enable clock change with Radclocker and set your Core and Mem speeds at 300 or as close as you can get.Close display properties and fire up 3DMark.Open up task manager and under proc. highlight 3DMark and set priority to "Realtime" check OK and close task manager. In 3DMark, change your settings to run only the first 4 benchmarks as they are the only ones that give you your score. Disable title screens between tests, make sure AA is disabled within 3DMark, resolution to 1024x768x32 and let 'er rip.....These are the settings I use. See my scores below...:-smile12 Should make the 4200 cry...:)Bobby
