Just got some 3200 corsair ram Two 512 sticks. Is it better to run them synchronous, or asynchonous mode in the bios? I did a quick test with 3dmark 2001. Not much different. I am running a pIV3.05 slightly over clocked to 3.17 on a asus p4s800. Thanks in advance.

Gregg,Nice memory :) Run them SYNC. with stock timings. 3.1? Come on now you have a hell of a lot more headroom there :) My 3.06 in my FS9 box runs at 3.45 (150FSB) 24/7 with stock intel HSF. 512 megs of PC1066.Turn the wick up a bit. Should make you pretty happy.Bobby

Thanks....I'll try to turn it up a bit. I've been using a program called prime 95 to do a test afterward to look for errors. I believe the agp and pci bus hardware did not like it any higher. No way to keep them at 66 and 33 as fs is turned up. If it was my other ram....... And yes...heat was ok. This 3.06 runs cool 30C at idle, or less. 40C after a flight. Here goes nothing.

Gregg,Make sure your running the latest Bios from Asus as this has been shown to be a good OC'ing MB with it in place.Remember to go in small increments. And remember, although not a dark art, it can be tricky.Bobby

Bobby,Got it to 3.42. Any higher, it reboots doing the prime 95 torture test. Seems stable. Must be the better ram. Was using 2700 samsungs. These 3.06's sure do run cool...compared to the AMD's Thanks...... See ya on the forums.
